How it’s calculated
We read the public profile and its 20 most recent videos (pinned videos excluded), then work out:
- Average and median views — the median shows a typical video without viral outliers.
- Engagement rate = (likes + comments + shares + saves) ÷ views across those videos.
- Views per follower — how far a typical video reaches compared with the follower count.
- Posting pace and the days since the last video.
Views tell the real story on TikTok
Because TikTok shows videos to people who don’t follow the account, follower counts say little about current reach. Median views of recent videos are the most honest single number: what a new video from this account typically gets today.
Engagement by views
We measure engagement against views, not followers, for the same reason. Shares and saves are included — they’re the strongest signals that a video is worth passing on or coming back to.
Using it to vet creators
