LinkedIn engagement rate calculator
Enter a post’s impressions and interactions to get the same kind of engagement rate LinkedIn shows in its analytics.
Calculated in your browser — nothing you enter is sent or stored.
How it’s calculated
Engagement rate = (clicks + reactions + comments + reposts + follows) ÷ impressions × 100.
That follows LinkedIn’s own definition for page analytics: interactions, clicks and followers gained, divided by impressions. Clicks are usually the biggest part, and only the author can see them — which is why a rate worked out from public reactions alone always looks lower.
Why clicks matter on LinkedIn
On LinkedIn a lot of engagement is quiet: people click to read the rest of a post, open a link or look at your profile without reacting. LinkedIn counts all of that, so leaving clicks out understates how a post really did. If you don’t have access to the analytics, set clicks and follows to 0 and treat the result as a public-reactions rate.
Personal profile or company page
The formula works for both. Company pages show followers gained per post; on a personal profile, leave follows at 0 unless you’re tracking them.
Using the result
Compare posts of the same kind — text posts with text posts, documents with documents, video with video. Formats reach people differently, so their rates don’t line up. Over a month, the types of post with the highest rates are the ones to make more of.
Tips to improve your numbers
- Make the first two lines count — they’re all people see before “…see more”.
- Reply to every comment in the first hour; conversation extends a post’s life in the feed.
- Tag people only when they’re genuinely part of the post.
- Post consistently at the times your analytics show your audience is active.
