On X, a post's reply count sits next to its reposts, likes and views, and replies are the number that says people engaged rather than scrolled. A post with thousands of views and no replies looks like it was seen and ignored. A post with a short thread of replies underneath looks like it started a discussion, and people open it to read what others said, then add their own reply.
X comments add replies under the posts you choose. They give an important post, a launch, an opinion or an announcement, the look of a conversation already under way, which makes real readers more likely to join in.
How X comments work
- Copy the post link: open the post and copy its address, which looks like x.com/yourname/status/….
- Choose the amount and any options shown on the order form.
- Place one order per post. Replies are added under that post.
Your account must be public, and the post must allow replies from everyone. If you have limited who can reply, change it to Everyone for the post before ordering.
Check who can reply
X lets you choose who can reply to each post: everyone, accounts you follow, verified accounts or only accounts you mention. Replies from outside those groups are blocked. Open the post, check the reply setting and set it to Everyone while the order runs. You can change it back afterwards.
How many replies look natural
Replies are rarer than likes, and likes are rarer than views. A post with 5,000 views might have a few dozen likes and a handful of replies. As a rough guide:
- Posts with a few hundred views: 5 to 10 replies.
- A few thousand views: 10 to 30 replies.
- Posts that are taking off: scale with the likes and views, keeping replies the smallest of the three.
If the post has very few views or likes, add impressions or likes first, so the replies sit next to a post that looks seen.

Replies do the most good when you answer them. Reply to a few with a thank-you, a detail or a follow-up question, and like the best ones. A post where the author is talking with the people replying looks like a real conversation, and X readers are much more likely to join a thread that is already moving. - Questions and opinions, which look odd with no answers underneath.
- Announcements and launches, where readers want to see others' reactions.
- Threads: add replies to the first post, which is what appears in timelines.
- Your pinned post, which every visitor to your profile sees.
- Posts you will promote or share elsewhere, where a discussion makes the link look worth opening.
Write posts people reply to
Replies come easiest when the post asks for them. End with a question, share a clear opinion people can agree or disagree with, or ask readers to add to a list. Keep the post short enough to read at a glance, and add an image when it helps. Posts that invite a reply get more real replies than polished announcements.
A worked example
A founder posts on X: "We're choosing the next feature for our app. Dark mode or offline sync?" The post gets views but no replies in the first hour. The founder orders a small number of replies and adds 50 likes, then answers each reply with a short note. Readers who open the post see a conversation already going, add their own vote, and the founder ends the day with real feedback from users.
