How posts spread on Telegram

Telegram channels have no algorithmic feed. A post reaches the channel's subscribers and nobody else, unless someone forwards it. When a reader forwards a post to a chat, a group or another channel, it carries a "Forwarded from" label with your channel's name, and anyone who sees it can tap through and join. Forwards are how channels grow beyond their own subscribers, and they are the clearest sign that a post was worth passing on.

How Telegram shares work

• Copy the post link: long-press the post and tap Copy Link.
• Paste it on the order form, choose the amount and check out.
• Keep the post up and the channel public while the order runs.

A post link looks like t.me/yourchannel/123. The channel must be public, with a username. Check that forwarding is allowed: Telegram lets admins turn on "Restrict saving content", which blocks forwarding from the channel. Shares cannot be added while it is on.

Shares, views and reactions

Shares are usually far fewer than views and reactions. A post with a natural mix of all three looks like a post that landed well.

Write posts people forward

People forward posts that are useful to someone they know, surprising or funny. Add your channel's username or link at the end, so the credit stays visible even if the post is copied rather than forwarded.

Grow the channel through forwards

Every forward shows your channel's name. Make the most of it with a clear channel name, a recognisable avatar and a description that says what the channel offers in one line. People who tap the "Forwarded from" label land on your channel's page and decide in seconds whether to join. A pinned post that welcomes new readers and lists your best posts helps them decide.

How many shares look natural

Keep shares in proportion to the post's views. A post with 1,500 views and 4,000 shares looks wrong. On most channels, shares are a small fraction of views, higher for news and useful posts, lower for everyday updates. A few dozen shares on a post with a few thousand views looks like a post that readers passed on.

A worked example

A channel about remote jobs posts a weekly list of the best new openings, with one line on each. It orders a modest number of shares on the list, along with views, so its post statistics show a post that travels. Readers forward the list to friends who are job hunting, and the "Forwarded from" label brings new readers to the channel. When a recruitment company asks about advertising, the channel shares the statistics for its weekly lists.

Post statistics split shares into public channels and private chats. Shares to public channels are especially useful, because they show your post, and your name, to a whole other channel's audience. Look at which kinds of posts other channels forward, and make more of them.

Forwards from other channels

When another channel forwards your post, its whole audience sees your name. Build friendly links with channels in your niche, and forward their good posts too.
