How Instagram counts a view

Instagram now uses views as its main number across reels, posts and stories in Insights. On a reel, a view is counted each time it starts to play, replays included, which is why reels on the same profile can show very different numbers even when they reached similar audiences. The view count is public on reels, so it is the first thing a visitor compares when they scroll your reels tab.

What the free trial includes

The trial adds 100 views to one public reel or video. You paste the link, enter an email address and type in the six-digit code we send you; there is no login and no password. If your audience is local, targeted views keep the numbers consistent with where your followers are.

Where views show on Instagram

Instagram shows a view count on reels, both on the reel itself and on the grid of reels on your profile. Visitors scanning your profile compare those numbers at a glance, and one reel stuck at a few hundred views next to others in the thousands stands out.
