A save is a deliberate signal

A play can be passive: a song came on and kept going. A save is a choice. The listener tapped to keep your track in their Liked Songs or a playlist so they can come back to it. Saves are not shown publicly, but you see them in Spotify for Artists for each track, beside streams and listeners, and the ratio of saves to streams is a good measure of whether a song is connecting.

Spotify saves start at $2 for 100 from the USA, and $3 for 100 from Brazil, Canada, France or Germany. Worldwide saves are $5 for 100, and UK saves come in packs of 500 for $10. Larger orders are multiples of the pack, with a package discount: 5% off two or three packs, 10% off four or five, and 15% off ten or twenty. Delivery takes one to two days.

Which link to use

Saves go to a single track. In Spotify, open the song, tap the three dots or Share, and choose Copy Song Link. Track links look like open.spotify.com/track/… Use a track link, not an album, playlist or artist link.

Where saves show up

Listeners do not see a public save count on a song. You do: Spotify for Artists shows saves for each track, alongside streams and listeners. Labels, managers and distributors reading your Spotify for Artists data often look at the save rate, meaning saves compared with listeners, as a sign of how many people liked the song enough to keep it.

How many saves to order

Saves should fit the song's listeners. A track with 2,000 listeners and 5,000 saves looks impossible in your statistics; one with 2,000 listeners and a few hundred saves looks like a song people wanted to keep. Aim for saves well below the number of listeners, and add plays or monthly listeners alongside if the song is new.

Choosing a market

Spotify for Artists shows where your listeners are. Choose the market that matches your audience, so the saves sit alongside streams from the same country. The USA is the most affordable starting point; Brazil, Canada, France and Germany suit artists whose fans are there; Worldwide suits international releases.

Saves in a release plan

• Release week: saves alongside plays and monthly listeners, so the new track's statistics look consistent.
• Before pitching a label, manager or distributor, who will look at your Spotify for Artists data.
• Pre-save campaigns: ask fans to pre-save through your distributor's link, and use saves after release to top up the total.

A worked example

An indie pop artist releases a single and promotes it on TikTok. After the first week, Spotify for Artists shows 4,000 listeners but only 150 saves. Before a meeting with a small label, the artist orders 500 US saves ($9 with the 10% package discount). The label sees a single whose listeners kept it, alongside healthy streams and a growing follower count.

Keep expectations honest

Saves make your statistics look like a song people want to keep. They do not guarantee algorithmic playlists or editorial placements, and they should not be treated as a way to earn royalties. Treat them as one part of a release plan, alongside real promotion.

Getting real saves

Real saves come from listeners who hear a song and want it again. Ask for them directly: in your TikTok and Instagram posts, in your story links and at the end of your videos. A simple "save it on Spotify" with a link works better than you might expect. Songs that are added to listeners' own playlists and saved to their libraries are the ones Spotify sees as being kept, and ordered saves give those real saves a stronger starting point.
